Claire Finlay was born in Dublin. She worked as a ceramic restorer for twenty-five years before deciding to use her knowledge and experience to become a ceramicist. 

Claire is inspired by the everyday things in nature that surround her, be it a piece of bark or a shiny chestnut. Shape and texture are incredibly important to her, so the form,

texture and glaze all play a part in the final piece. 

She mostly works with stoneware and uses the method of slabbing or coiling the clay

to create her distinctive organic forms.
